About Bloomfield Elementary

Bloomfield Elementary School serves approximately 370 students. We are nestled in the eastern portion of Nelson County combining the communities of Bloomfield and Chaplin. Our school day runs from 8:15 a.m. through 3:25 p.m. We have a highly skilled staff who work hard to maintain high levels of rigor while making learning relevant for all students. Our core program in literacy is Treasures and our core math program is Everyday Mathematics. Both programs are firmly based on National Standards and have been locally aligned to Kentucky’s Common Core Standards. In addition to these core programs, our staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of all students through differentiated instruction using research-based programs and strategies for intervention and acceleration.

Bloomfield Elementary also offers many opportunities for extracurricular activities that enhance the learning experience. We have a Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) in which students meet regularly, and working with a sponsor, create technology projects as well as perform service for the technology needs within the school community. We also offer a 4th/5th Academic Team, which competes in the annual Governor’s Cup competition and various other countywide competitions. In addition, students in 3rd-5th grade also have the opportunity to join the Earth Science Club. This club, along with the faculty advisor, initiated the extensive recycling program within the school. The club also participates in other service projects as well as many exciting learning activities in biweekly club meetings.
